JOIN US4TiGO, a logistics startup backed by Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani and Accel Partners, is seeking to use over 800 Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) outlets on the highways to provide amenities to truck drivers, which includes overnight stay facility, secure parking, breakdown assistance and repair and maintenance facilities.
“With respect to overnight stay and secure parking, each owner and driver has a digital map that has all IOC Networked Retail Outlets (NRO) marked on them — along with facilities available there and the pictures of such facilities. For overnight facility and secure parking — currently, anyone on the 4TiGO network can drive into any of the NROs and get access to secure parking and sleep facility,” 4TiGO CEO and co-founder Anjani Mandal told DH.
“As the network widens and the usage and occupancy increases, owners and drivers will have the ability to book sleep and parking space in advance. The fleet owners and drivers on the 4TiGo network platform would have the facilities available to them free of cost,” Mandal added.
Greek terminology
Fortigo means ‘Truck’ in Greek. 4TiGo has over 1,200 trucks on its network on the supply-side, and over 300 loads per day on the demand-side. This is across 200 platform-users. It has presence only in India, covering all six southern states, with Gujarat, Bhopal, Pune, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Delhi NCR. The startup, which embarked on its operations in June 2016, has over 100 employees.
When asked about challenges, Mandal said, “Challenges are minimised on account of the way IOC runs the NRO chain. IOC has a great network of its own field officers in place to administer the programme.”
