A 34-year-old BMTC bus driver was crushed to death between two buses at the Kempegowda bus stand on Saturday morning.

The deceased is Ramesh, a native of Hassan. He was attached to the Kengeri depot and was the driver of the BMTC bus plying from Kadugodi to Kempegowda bus stand.

On Friday night, Ramesh parked the bus at the Kempegowda bus stand and halted for the night. On Saturday around 5.45 am, Ramesh started to clean the bus even as passengers boarded the vehicle. Turning on the ignition of the bus, he went to clean the front windshield, said the police.

As Ramesh was cleaning, the bus started moving forward. It pushed Ramesh and hit another BMTC bus parked in front.

Ramesh was crushed between the two buses. Passengers who were sitting in the bus raised an alarm and a conductor moved the bus in the reverse direction. Ramesh had collapsed with severe head injuries and was shifted to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead, added the police.

A case has been registered at the Upparpet traffic police station and investigation is being carried out.
