A delegation of Akrama-Sakrama applicants from Kodagu district recently called on Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa in Bengaluru, for the early disposal of their applications.

The aggrieved applicants who were facilitated by assistant advocate general A S Ponnanna, also a native of Kodagu, brought it to the notice of the minister that the local MLA K G Bopaiah was the chairman of the Akrama-Sakrama Samiti, but had not called a meeting the past two years, thus stymieing the further process.

The minister, who took note of the complaint, directed Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu Richard Vincent D’Souza to take initiative as 250 genuine applicants were waiting to avail of the benefit under the same scheme.

The minister said, in the wake of the failure of local MLA, either the deputy commissioner or the tahsildar should convene a meeting and decide over the applications.

No action

Earlier, Ponnanna who was closeted with the minister for over half-an-hour, explained to the minister that, in spite of directions from the High Court to decide over the issues related to Akrama-Sakrama, there is no action in this regard in the past two years.

The applicants who met the minister included Chotteyandamada Dinesh, Badumanda Ramesh, Badumanda Dinesh, Ajjamada Lava, Chottangada Achappa, Changuland Sooraj, Bayavanda Kishore, Thitira Naveen, Kallichandra Mani, Manira Vitala, Madira Ajit, Kattera Nanjappa, Bayavanda Jagan, Manira Manu and Ajjamada Bopaiah.
