Cycle rally draws 2,800 participants

The 10th annual RxLife Cycle Rally conducted by Swasti RxLife Trust in association with Hercules BSA in the city on Sunday. The rally witnessed a record 2,800 participants.

Cyclists within the age group of 10 to 87 years pedalled the 22-km stretch through Ladyhill – Chilimbi – Kottara – Kodikal – Kuloor – Pejawar – Urwa Store – Ashoknagar – Sultan Battery. The rally was concluded at Amrita Vidyalayam School grounds at Boloor.

The rally was inaugurated by Daniel from TI Cycles and was flagged of by Jaya Kamath and Mukund Kamath of Ideal Ice Creams, Ullas Kamath of Jyothi Laboratory, Prof M S Moodithaya, Registrar of Nitte University, athlete Shreema and Jyothi Prasad Nayak from Jyothi Cycle Company. The rally was aimed at developing green concerns, besides ensuring safe pedalling for cyclists, with the slogan ‘safe roads-save lives’, seeking the attention of heavy motor vehicles (HMVs).

This year, 12 cycles and an Amazon Kindle were given away to lucky winners. They are Roadeo- Lakshmeesha – Canara PU College; Mach-City – Abhinav Rao – Lourdes Central School 6th Std; Roadeo – Shubham – Canara CBSE School 9th Std; Hercules Grut – Gautham Shenoy – Sharada Vidyalaya 8th Std; Hercules ZX: Kantesh – St. Aloysius Urva – 9th Std; Hercules Grut – Sachith – BJS – 9th Std; Mach City – Dr. Ashok Shenoy – KMC; Lady Bird – Shravya Hegde – Amritha Vidyalaya – 10th Std; Roadeo – Anvitha Kiran: Mahesh PUC; Hercules X-100— Kiran Kumar – Canara English Higher Primary School – 7th Std; Hercules Roadeo NFS: Pratham – ITI; Hercules Roadeo A300 – Ashutosh Kamath – Sharada Vidyalaya – 9th Std and Amazon Kindle – Noel Sebastian – Kendriya Vidyalaya – 10th Std.

Seven achievers – S Ramachandra Bhandary (social service), K Sadananda Prabhu (athletics), Abdul Rouf (for his selfless service wherever there is a traffic congestion), Anand (repairs cycles at a shop at Marigudi for around 50 years), Ramachandra Rao (87), Vishwanath (77) and Walter D’Souza (77), participants in the rally last 10 years were felicitated.
