At least 115 trains were running late and a total of 21 have been cancelled due to fog in the capital. The minimum temperature dipped to 7.7 degrees Celsius on Friday, one degree below the normal for this part of the season.

While more than 100 Delhi-bound trains were delayed by several hours, around 60 were rescheduled in view of poor visibility due to fog. Among the trains which were cancelled on Friday and Saturday include Bhagalpur Vikramshila Express, Howrah Poorva Express, Barauni Vaiashali Express, Rajendra Nagar Rajdhani Express, Jabalpur Express, etc.

However, flight operations were not affected. Delhi was under the blanket of thick fog this whole week. As per the MeT department, the situation has improved a little on Friday and according to forecast, Delhiites will get some relief from dense fog in the next two days.

According to an official of the MeT Department, the visibility was recorded at 1,000 meters and 400 meters at 5:30 AM and 8:30 AM respectively at Safdarjung observatory.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 26.6 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal for this part of the season. The humidity in air oscillated between 97 and 51 per cent.

“It will be shallow to moderate fog at few places and dense fog at isolated places in the morning,” said the official.
