Bale Muhurta, which marks start of the pre-Paryaya preparations for the next Paryaya of Palimaru Mutt, was performed by seer Sri Vidhyadheesha Theertha Swami of the Mutt on Sunday.

The 32nd cycle of the Paryaya, following the tradition put forth by saint Vadiraja, begins with Palimaru Mutt. Vidhyadheesha Theertha Swami will ascend the Paryaya Peeta (Sarvajna Peeta) for the second time at 6.20 am on January 18, 2018, inside the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Krishna Mutt and begin his two-year term as proposed by Dvaita (Dualism) exponent Madhwacharya and restructured by Sri Vadiraja.

After a puja at Chandramoulishwara and Anantheshwara temples, the procession entered Sri Krishna Mutt, where prayers were offered to the presiding deity Lord Krishna and Lord Mukhyaprana. It later proceeded to the entrance of the Mutt where representatives collected saplings of plantain and sugarcane. A grand procession carrying the plantain saplings, tulsi and sugarcane sprouts was taken around Car Street in which the seer and other dignitaries took part. The procession, with horses, cattle, traditional drum-beaters and trumpet-blowers, culminated in the backyard of Mathura Chatra premises. The plantain saplings, sugarcane and tulsi were planted in two rows in the backyard amid chanting of religious hymns.

Bale Muhurta would be followed by three other rituals, Akki Muhurta, Kattige Muhurta and Batta Muhurta in the days to come. The seer said he prefers introducing a Tulsi Vana at Sri Krishna Mutt. The initiative has been already taken at the original Mutt in Palimaru in one acre of land, he added. He said the ritual will also mark the beginning of mass dining taken up by respective Mutts for two years as part of the Paryaya term. He said that in his last Paryaya, he had taken up the programme for the children which will continue in this term as well. He said ‘Laksharchane’ would be held every week earlier, however, during his term the ritual will be held every day. He has plans to help poor children with education.

District In-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj inaugurated electronic data capture swiping machine by donating Rs 10,000 to Palimaru Mutt. Henceforth, devotees can offer the donations to the Mutt through the swipe machine.
