Specially abled kids must benefit from schemes: DC

'Young Indians' hold awareness rally on child safety

Deputy Commissioner D Randeep, on Saturday, said the government has introduced various schemes for the benefit of special children to include them into the mainstream, and parents and educators should take a lead in utilising available schemes for the welfare of special children.

He said this addressing the gathering at an event held to mark World Disabled Day, organised by district administration, in association with zilla panchayat, Women and Child Welfare department and Empowerment of Differently-Abled and Senior Citizens department, at Dasara Exhibition grounds here. 

Earlier, Zilla Panchayat president Nayeema Sultana inaugurated the event and released Braille Calendar 2017. Children performed a variety of cultural events to showcase their talent. Deputy Director for Women and Child Welfare K Radha and District Child Protection Officer K Padma were also present on the occasion.

Child safety
Young Indians, a wing of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), and Rotary Mysore, organised an event near the Clock Tower at Manasagangothri to create awareness on ‘Child safety and sexual abuse against children’. Hundreds of school and college students formed a human chain to spread awareness on safety of children.

The objectives of the event was to educate children, to speak and share their problems with trusted adults, to ask parents to support the child’s revelation, secure his/her today for a beautiful tomorrow and suggest ways to overcome situations and to remove myths associated with child abuse. Deputy Commissioner D Randeep took part in the event.
