JOIN USKushi V emerged champion in the youth girls’ category of the CVL Sastry memorial State table tennis championship here on Wednesday.
In the final, Kushi rallied to overcome Spoorthi MV in a marathon seven-game tie 5-11, 11-7, 11-7, 9-11, 13-11, 7-11, 11-7.
Down 5-11 in the first game, Kushi bounced back in style to win the next two 11-7, 11-7.
However, the battle was far from over as Spoorthi claimed the fourth 11-9. Kushi then clinched the fifth 13-11 but Spoorthi was not yet done as she won the next 7-11. Kushi then battled hard to finally win the seventh game and the contest 11-7.
