The Akhila Karnataka Police Maha Sangha (AKPMS) has condemned the state government’s decision on the introduction of new allowances to police personnel.

In a press release, AKPMS president, Shashidhar said the government has failed to keep its promises.

The government had constituted a committee headed by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Raghavendra Auradkar to look into anomalies in the salary of police personnel and the committee submitted its report. But the government has decided to increase the salary by giving an allowance of Rs 2,000. This is not sufficient and also not satisfactory, he said.

It was told that the police will get a weekly off. But it is still not being implemented properly. The government has also stated that it has made it mandatory to pay 13 months, salary to the police personnel. But this rule was implemented in 1994, he said.

It is learnt that politicians and ministers are involved in police transfers and this should be stopped immediately. There are several cases in this connection which are before the Supreme Court and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), he said.

Shashidhar also said that around 50,000 police personnel and their families are planning to file a complaint against the chief minister and other ministers who are involved in police transfers and also approach governor in this connection.
