Realtor murder: police to grill his ex-manager lodged in UP jail

The city police have decided to seek the custody of  former manager of Paruchuri Global Foundation, Kapil, for questioning in connection with financier and realtor Paruchuri Surendra Kumar’s murder.

Kumar, 51, a native of Repalle in Guntur district, was gunned down near his Sanjaynagar house on Sunday night, soon after he got down from his car.

Kapil from Uttar Pradesh had a financial dispute with Kumar. Kapil had persuaded Kumar to invest in the Yamuna Expressway project.

Kumar transferred the money into Kapil’s bank account. But Kapil reportedly siphoned off the money and made the investment in his name. Kapil was later arrested and jailed based on Kumar’s complaint.

“Kapil is lodged in a prison at Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. The police will detain him for interrogation as it is crucial to solve Kumar’s murder,” Additional Commissioner (West) KSR Charan Reddy told DH. “We are exploring business, financial and personal angles. We are yet to establish the motive behind the murder,” he said.

The police have not ruled out the possibility of Kumar’s relatives being involved in the murder.

No contact with relatives
“Kumar had maintained distance from many of his relatives. He was managing the Foundation, a security service and a private investment firm. The murder might have taken place over property issues too. However, the police have so far not come across any evidence to suspect involvement of his relatives,” said a police officer.

Kumar’s brother Captain Chowdhary said the police had questioned their family members and relatives. “We are at a loss and are unable to ascertain the motive. My brother did not have enmity with anybody,” he said.
