Shruti, Meenakshi clinch gold

Shruti Mahalingam and Meenakshi VKR of Jain University were in top form as they won the gold medals on the opening day of the All-India inter-university aquatics championship, at the Panjab University campus here.

In the 400M freestyle final, Shruti won in 4:50.50, while Pallavi Sejwal of the Delhi University settled for a silver in 4:54.22. Another Karnataka swimmer, Sneha T of the Rajiv Gandhi University, Bengaluru, took the bronze in 4:57.25. Meenakshi won the gold in 200M backstroke, timing 2:33.25.
