When S Chikkarangappa started the year, his main goal was to secure the Asian Tour card. Delighted after achieving his target following a succession of good performances, the 23-year-old said his next goal is to win an event.

“It's a dream come true,” said Chikkarangappa on the sidelines of the TAKE Open Championship. “The guys who come from Q-School, like me, get to play only about eight events in a year and even if you finish in the top-10 in those you may still end up not getting a full card. What you really need is have a good finish in big prize money tournaments -- $750,000 or $1 million events.

“Guys with a full card get to play in all the events. It was really hard for me but I did a lot of work with Vijay (Divecha) sir before going into the last three events. Getting the card was my main goal and I’m really looking forward to next season.”

Chikkarangappa said his next focus is to do well in next month’s WGC World Cup of Golf at Melbourne where he will be teaming up with SSP Chawrasia. “The biggest event for me would be the World Cup of Golf. SSP and I are partners there and the top 56 players in the world would be there. I’m extremely lucky to get this opportunity. SSP chose me and I really thank him.”
