Subbaiah slams Kodava Samaja for opposing Tipu Jayanti

Last Updated 19 October 2016, 19:15 IST

Senior advocate and former MLC A K Subbaiah has sought to know if Kodava Samaja is a BJP office.

He said on Tuesday that Kodava Samaja’s opposition to Tipu Jayanti is irrelevant. "Kodava Samaja is part of a community and not the branch office of BJP. There are also members of Gowda community in BJP. But, no Vokkaliga has submitted a memorandum saying Tipu Jayanti should not be observed," he stated.

"The murder of Kodavas by Tipu Sultan at Devatiparambu is a 'created story', and the opposition to Tipu Jayanti by BJP is an agenda of the party. Following the opposition to Tipu Jayanti last year, there was a death and a murder. Indirectly, Sangh Pariwar is the reason for the untoward incidents," said Subbaiah.

In the recently held Zilla Panchayat meeting, BJP members tried to propose the issue of passing a resolution against Tipu Jayanti. But, members of the Congress opposed the same. The credit must go to the women members of the Congress, who saved the party and the Congress leaders must understand this, explained the advocate.

CNC president N U Nachappa has applied under the Akrama Sakrama scheme to regularise 60 acres of paisari land in Maragodu, claiming that, of the total land, five acres are being cultivated in his name and five acres in the name of his wife. But, Nachappa is ineligible to apply as he is inheriting the property from his father, he said, adding that in 60 acres of paisari land bearing survey number 1/6 A in Maragodu, landless people have been carrying out cultivation. Only some have been provided with RTC and many are not provided with the same. As many as 53 people have applied for regularisation under Akrama Sakrama and Nachappa is one among the applicants.

He further said that Nachappa is a land mafia. He has been creating fake records. Legal action will be initiated against him for cheating.
