Congress planning Ahinda push

Last Updated 05 October 2016, 19:41 IST

Not willing to be left behind in the race to garner support of Ahinda communities, the state Congress is planning a series of conventions across the state in November.

Ahinda is the Kannada acronym for minorities, backward classes and Dalits. Addressing a joint press conference, presidents of the OBC, minority, SC and ST wings of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) said the conventions will highlight the welfare programmes taken up by the state government for Ahinda communities.

They said the Congress has started gearing up for the 2018 Assembly elections and expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in the elections.

They said the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade had no base. BJP leader K S Eshwarappa was associating with the brigade only to meet his political ambitions, they charged.
