Accenture is making dedicated efforts to make diversity a fundamental pillar with India-centric activities such as its Women In Technology programme.

In an interaction with DH, Accenture Chief Leadership and Human Resources Officer Ellyn Shook said that the company is not only attracting women, but also ensuring that their career opportunities are enhanced.

“We have a unique programme in India called Women in Technology to help develop and certify women as technical architects. Architects are in high demand, but there are only a few right now. Close to 1,100 employees are enrolled into this programme,” she said, while inducting 1,000 new women employees at its Bengaluru, NCR, Hyderabad and Pune centres, recently.

Shook said the programme is designed to help women employees focus on their career goals. “These are tailored to address a conscious investment toward career goals while navigating through changes in life. We have already seen 200 employees certified and the plan is to increase that number,” said Shook. Highlighting the digital journey of the company, she said Accenture is bringing diversity to make the organisation smarter, stronger and more innovative. “Every single human being has a voice and by bringing together 3.75 lakh employees, we are leading digital disruption for our clients. Ensuring an incredibly diverse workforce is essential for business success,” adds Shook.

Besides having more than 1.45 lakh women at Accenture globally, 28% of its women employees are executives (manager and above). In India, the company employs around 45,000 women.

Accenture operates in five distinct business areas and Shook said, “What is central to all these businesses and at the bedrock of our company’s core value is its code of business ethics.  Every employee should have a common shared value system and it is this glue that connects the company together. On the first day itself, our new employees learn it, and it is about how we act each day while coming to office and while interacting with our clients.”
