College student among 3 killed in separate accidents

Three persons were killed in separate accidents in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Whitefield and Chikkajala since Friday night. In the first incident, a 22-year-old engineering student was killed while her friend sustained injuries when a Tempo Traveller knocked down their two-wheeler near Global Academy of Technology in Rajarajeshwari Nagar.

The deceased has been identified as Bhavana Gangadhar, a resident of BEML Layout while pillion rider Chandana sustained minor injuries and is out of danger. They are seventh semester engineering students in a private college.

When Bhavana slowed down to negotiate a speed breaker, a speeding Tempo Traveller knocked them down, throwing them off the scooter. Bhavana, who fell on the righthand side, was run over by the Tempo Traveller. The duo were shifted to a hospital where Bhavana was declared brought dead.

The van was seized and the driver Madesha, who is suspected to have been under the influence of alcohol, was arrested. 23-yr-old knocked down. In second incident, a 23-year-old bike rider was killed when a tractor knocked him down near Nallurahalli near Whitefield.

The deceased Manjunath V Shivasampi was an employee of a private company and a resident of Electronics City. Around 8.40 am, a speeding tractor knocked him down near Spectra Palm Meadows apartments on Nallurahalli main road.

He was shifted to Vydehi hospital where he was declared brought dead. In the third incident, a pedestrian was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Uttanahalli in Chikkajala. The deceased is Ranganath, 38, a labourer and resident of Uttanahalli.
