The Cabinet approved a proposal to regularise 77 acres of government land encroachment by Eagleton Golf Resort near Bidadi, off the Bengaluru-Mysuru national highway, by collecting Rs 988 crore.
The Supreme Court had ordered that the encroachment can be regularised by collecting the market value of the land. A Cabinet sub-committee had fixed the market price of the 77 acres land at Rs 988 crore.
The resort has been operating since 2000. Of the total 105 acres of government land that the resort had encroached upon, the government had recovered about 28 acres, Jayachandra said. The minister, however, did not reply to a question whether the government would apply the same principle for encroachments on stormwater drains in Bengaluru.
