Toyota rolls out new Etios range, redefines safety standard

Last Updated 13 September 2016, 16:31 IST

Japanese automobile behemoth Toyota on Tuesday became the first carmaker in India to standardise Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) across all its models, and in all grades, having also announced the launch of the new Platinum Etios and Etios Liva, with the said features.

World over, Toyota has set many benchmarks in safety and related technologies, and the said new models of the Etios family come with a host of safety features, over and above the usual comfort and performance attributes.

“With the new Platinum Etios and Liva, Toyota becomes the first car manufacturer in the industry to standardise ABS with EBD across all its models, and in all grades. New ISOFIX child seat locks for all models and all grades have been added to ensure safety of children,” Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) stated, adding that the new Etios’ five seats come with three-point Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seatbelts, besides front seats sporting a Pre-Tensioner and Force Limiter (PTFL).

The Etios made its world debut, when it was launched in India in 2010. The car, which is build on the same assembly line as the legendary Toyota Corolla Altis, has seen around 3,30,000 customers in India, and has been successful among patrons essentially in need for a larger cabin and luggage space, high fuel economy, and low ownership cost.
Besides, the Etios was the first-in-segment to standardise dual SRS airbags across all grades.

It must be noted that a team of engineers in India has the complete ownership to continuously upgrade the Etios, engaging with Indian customers, seeking feedback and suggestions on new features.
