HC permits Telgi to get treatment outside jail

The High Court on Wednesday allowed Abdul Kareem Telgi, who is serving his sentence in the multicrore fake stamp paper scam, to avail treatment for his illness outside the jail premises. 

A division bench, comprising Justice H G Ramesh and Justice Rathnakala, permitted him to avail treatment in hospitals outside the jail while hearing the interlocutory application filed by him.

Telgi in his application had stated that he is suffering from chronic diabetes, hypertension and severe cardiac ailment. 

He said that his diabetes level has become very high and feared that he might slip into coma. 

He also stated that he is confined to wheelchair and sometimes he blacks out. He sought directions to the senior superintendent, Central Prisons, Parappana Agrahara, to allow him to avail treatment and to submit details of his health reports.
