Last Updated 02 September 2016, 20:33 IST

With senior counsel not available to make their submissions to the High Court, Justice Raghavendra S Chauhan on Friday made provisions to hear a petition till 8 pm. Following a submission made by one of the senior counsels to take leave to attend an arbitration matter at 4.30 pm, Justice Chauhan said he would wait till the arbitration matter was over. He rose for a brief break and resumed the hearing at 6.15 pm.

Senior counsel Uday Holla and Sajan Poovayya made their submissions till 8 pm and the matter was adjourned to September 7. This is not the first time Justice Chauhan has stretched the court timings. He had made exceptions to hear the mayoral election matter previously.

The judge has been hearing a batch of petitions filed by Uber, Ola, other app-based aggregators, taxi association and drivers in a case regarding the newly framed Karnataka On-Demand Transportation Technology Aggregators Rules, 2016. Similarly, Justice Anand Byrareddy too has held sittings till 8.30 pm.
