National Champion Dhruv Sarda of Delhi put up a fine show to defeat defending champion Shabbir Dhankot of Tamil Nadu to emerge champion of the ARC 2nd Bangalore Open Tenpin Bowling Championship at the Blu-O, Orion Mall, here on Sunday.
The second-seed Sarda started the final of the stepladder round against Dhankot with six strikes in a row whereas Shabbir started with five consecutive strikes and a tenpin spare in the first six frames.
Sarda won game one against Dhankot scoring 254-247.
In the final game, Sarda scored ten strikes in a row whereas Dhankot could just manage a double and a ten pin spare followed by three strikes and another ten spare. Sarda won the championship by scoring 287-234.
Earlier in the step-ladder round, the third-seeded Vijay Punjabi of Karnataka lost game one to fourth-seeded Akaash Ashok Kumar (192-199) but rallied to beat his rival in game two (200-177) to advance to match two against the second-seeded Dhruv.
In match two, Sarda tied the score with Punjabi at 226-226 to set up a summit clash against Dhankot.
In the Open Masters, Dhankot started his second block of eight games with 222 and followed it up with another seven 200+ games (237, 258, 204, 246,225, 222, 215) completing his two blocks of eight games with total pinfall of 3730 and finish on top to move into the final.
