Two ragpickers were killed in separate incidents in Channasandra and R K Puram on Thursday. In the first incident, a 35-year-old was killed by his friends in R K Puram near Gandhi Nagar.

The police said that the deceased Ramesh, was a ragpicker in Cottonpete. On Thursday noon, he was going towards R K Puram, with a woman ragpicker. His friends Prashanth and Seena passed lewd comments on the woman, which was objected  to by Ramesh. Angered by this, the two stabbed Ramesh with a knife and fled.

The Upparpet police visited the spot and shifted Ramesh to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The police questioned the other ragpickers in the area, who gave information about Prashanth and Seena. The two were arrested near Upparpet while they were planning to leave the city.

In another incident, an unidentified ragpicker was bludgeoned to death at an under construction building in Channasandra near Rajarajeshwari nagar on Thursday night.

The police said that the deceased was aged between 30 and 35 years. The body has not been identified. The incident came to light when a few labourers, who came to work on Friday morning found the body. They informed the Rajarajeshwari Nagar police.

It is suspected that someone known to the deceased might have committed the crime. Jurisdictional police have registered cases and are investigating the cases.
