Amandeep firmly in the driver's seat

Whether Vani Kapoor tees off or not, it appears as if the title seems decided by the penultimate round itself in the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour.

Making the most of Vani’s absence owing to injury, Amandeep Drall carded a fine level-par 72 to total 142 and extend her advantage to eight shots in the Hero-KGA Women's Pro Golf Championship here on Thursday.

Gursimar Badwal, who shot a second successive 75, was lying second while Neha Tripathi clawed her way back to third at 153 after carding 74.

Panchkula’s Amandeep got off on the wrong note after bogeying the opening hole. She made amends by picking up a birdie on the very next hole itself. She birdied the sixth but dropped a shot on the next hole.

Amandeep took the turn with plenty of confidence, notching up back to back birdies on the 11th and 12th holes. Bogeys on the 14th and 17th ruined her card though.

Leading scores (after 36 holes, ‘A’ denotes Amateur): 142: Amandeep Drall (70, 72); 150: Gursimar Badwal (75, 75); 153: Neha Tripathi (79, 74); 154: Sharmila Nicollet (78, 76), Trisha Sunil (78, 76); 155: Afshan Fatima (81, 74), Suchitra Ramesh (A, 76, 79).
