Two persons, including a PUC student, were killed while another was injured in separate accidents on Tuesday.

In the first incident, a 29-year-old bike rider was killed while the pillion rider sustained injuries when they rammed their bike into a car from the rear on Ballari Road flyover near Byatarayanapura on Tuesday evening. Police have identified the deceased as Vijesh M V, 29, while his colleague Mohammed Irshad, 25 escaped with minor injuries. Both of them were working in the cargo section at the Kempegowda International Airport.

When the two were returning home from work around 6.45 pm, the driver of a car in front of them suddenly applied brakes. Vijesh, who failed to notice the car, rammed into it. Due to the impact of the collision, Vijesh and Irshad fell down and sustained injuries. Passersby shifted the two to a nearby private hospital. Vijesh was declared brought dead by doctors. Irshad is said to be out of danger. The Yelahanka traffic police shifted the body for post-mortem, said the police.

The car driver fled with his vehicle. Police said it is not clear why the car driver braked suddenly though the traffic was sparse and added that they are trying to trace him.

In another incident, an 18-year-old student was killed after a Canter hit his bike from behind on Gayathri Nagar main road. The police identified the deceased as Vivek, a II PUC student of MES College and a resident of Gayathri Nagar. He had been to the Sai Baba temple in Malleswaram and was on his way back home when the incident took place. Vivek, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered head injuries after being hit by the Canter. Passersby alerted the Malleswaram traffic police, who shifted Vivek to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead. The Canter was seized and driver Krishnappa was arrested, police said.
