BMTC bus driver beaten up for ramming into bikes, car

A doctor was injured after a BMTC bus rammed into two bikes and a cab at S G Balekundri Circle near Cunningham Road on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the police, the BMTC bus (293E), which was coming from K R Market, rammed into two bikes and a cab, which were waiting at the traffic signal. Rajani, a doctor who was on the two-wheeler, fell down and injured her leg and hip. She was taken to a private hospital. The occupants of the cab were unhurt.

The public gathered and thrashed bus driver Basavalinga Gowda. The Cubbon Park traffic police, who were alerted, rushed to the spot and dispersed the crowd. The driver claimed that he lost control over the vehicle after its brakes failed. BMTC officials were informed and the vehicle was sent for examination to verify the driver’s claim. Gowda said he will file a complaint against those who thrashed him. The Cubbon Park traffic police has registered a case against the driver for rash and negligent driving, added the police.
