Smriti, DVS and Rudy dropped from Cabinet committees

Last Updated 16 July 2016, 19:26 IST
Union ministers Smriti Irani, D V Sadananda Gowda and Rajiv Pratap Rudy are no longer part of the Cabinet committees as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shuffled key decision-making teams in his government.

Ananth Kumar is now on four Cabinet committees — Parliamentary Affairs, Political Affairs, Economic Affairs and Accommodation, according to the update posted by the Cabinet Secretariat on its website.

Smriti, who was shifted from the human resource development ministry to the textiles ministry in last week's reshuffle, lost her place as a special invitee to the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA).

Gowda, who was a member of the CCPA  and Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs when he was the law minister, is missing in the list since he was shifted to the statistics and programme implementation ministry.

Prakash Javadekar, who replaced Smriti as HRD minister, has been made a regular member on the CCPA. In his earlier capacity as the minister of state for environment, he was a special invitee, like Smriti.
