Ton-up Sadiq forces draw

A valiant century from Sadiq Kirmani helped defending champions Vice President’s XI avoid a defeat against President’s XI on the second and final day of their Safi Darashah tournament match at Alur (2) ground on Wednesday.

Resuming the day on 31/1, Vice President’s were bowled out for 117 in 40.5 overs.

Ronit More (3/29) Gowtham K (3/16) and Shreyas Gopal (3/8) shared the bowling spoils.

In their second hit, Vice President’s batting was average again, barring Kirmani and Zeeshan Ali Sayeed’s knocks.

Sadiq notched up a brisk 102 off 111 balls with 18 fours and a six, while Zeeshan remained unbeaten on 50 to help his side post 252/8 in 65 overs and escape with a draw that fetched them a point.

President’s XI: 3 points; Vice President’s XI: 1 point.

At Alur 3: Combined XI: 175 all out in 70.3 overs and 68/4 in 21 overs (Mitrakant Singh Yadav 3-29) drew Bangalore Zone: 264 all out in 86.2 overs (Nishith Raj 44, Abhinav Manohar 70, Aditya Somanna 60 n.o.; Prateek Jain 2-42, Naveen MG 3-18, Abrar Kazi 2-66). Bangalore Zone: 3; Combined XI: 1.
