JOIN USAs the Basvanagudi Aquatic Centre (BAC) prepares for another national meet in its campus, the rumours surrounding the departure of its long-serving head coach S Pradeep Kumar seem to have gathered pace.
It was rumoured that Pradeep would head to Dubai to develop three swimming centres.
Linked to INDUSS Swim Centre, Pradeep, meanwhile, assured that his role will be that of a mentor and there was no long term plan. “The centre is already running. I am going to go there and help them in operations. I will be overseeing things there, nothing more. My role will be that of a mentor. At this age, it’s not feasible to ask more from me,” he said.
Meanwhile, the BAC president NR Jagdale stated that Pradeep would part ways with the centre here, but not for long. “Yes, it’s true that he’s heading out. He is going to help develop a swim centre there (in Dubai), but structurally he will still be connected with us,” confirmed Jagdale.
It is also unclear whether Pradeep will continue coaching the national team.
