Karnataka look to assert supremacy

Karnataka will be eyeing an unprecedented 25th title at the Junior level and will look to maintain their hold on the sub-junior category as well when the 33rd Sub-Junior and the 43rd Junior national aquatics championships gets under way at the Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre here on Wednesday.

Unlike last season, where the sub-junior and the junior races were held simultaneously, the organisers have opted to divide the two meets into different segments. This time, the sub-junior races, which include Group III and Group IV, will begin on Wednesday and run up to July 2, while the junior races, which comprise of Group I and Group II, will be held from July 5-9.

While the swimming races and the water polo matches -- for the junior level -- will be held at the Basavanagudi centre, the diving competition will be held at the Jain University residential campus. The event is expected to feature over 1,300 athletes from across the country.
