Olympian Govinda hospitalised

 Former India hockey captain BP Govinda was admitted to hospital after he had a fall in his room on Wednesday morning.

Govinda was here at the Sports Authority of India to oversee the selection trials for the national women’s team.   

"He was admitted to the hospital (Thursday) but is better now," said a Hockey Karnataka official. Govinda suffered broken ribs and one of the ribs damaged the lungs.

Govinda's former team-mate, MP Ganesh, who visited him in the hospital, stated that his condition had improved,” he said.

Govinda was part of the Indian men's team that won a bronze medal at the 1972 Olympics.
He is currently the chairman of the Hockey India Selection Committee.
