Supporters seek cabinet berth for Madhugiri MLA Rajanna

Zilla and taluk panchayat members threaten to resign en masse

 Hundreds of supporters of Congress legislator K N Rajanna on Sunday staged a massive protest in the city demanding ministerial berth for Madhugiri MLA.

The agitating members took out a procession from Gunchi Circle to BGS Circle, where they expressed their anguish by setting fire to tyres on road and staged a roadblock for over half-an-hour.

The protesters demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president G Parameshwara to include Rajanna into ministry immediately.The agitators threatened that if Rajanna is denied of ministerial berth, all five ZP members and 17 TP members in Madhugiri Assembly constituency would resign. Also, 15 TMC, 27 GP presidents and 345 GP members in the taluk have threatened to resign as mark of protest.

 The protesters further said that Tumul president, directors of DCC bank, APMC, TAPCMS, VSSN, milk producers’ co-operative societies, nominated members of TMC, PLD Bank, Ashraya Samiti, Bagair Hukum Samiti, Aradhana Samiti among others would also resign en masse, if Rajanna is not inducted into the Cabinet. “The recipient of Sahakara Ratna award K N Rajanna has made immense contribution to co-operative sector. Madhugiri taluk has seen good development under Rajanna. When he was representing Bellavi Assembly segment, Rajanna launched several measures including Krishna Kuteer to alleviate the problems of the women belonging to Golla community,” the supporters of KNR (K N Rajanna) said.

“As DCC Bank president he took necessary steps to implement the loan waiver scheme for debt-ridden farmers, who committed suicide. This initiate has helped ease the problems of over 3,000 farmer families in the district,” the agitating supporters added.

Zilla panchayat members G J Rajanna, Kenchamaraiah, Chowdappa, Manjula Adinarayan, Shantala Rajanna, Tumul president Kondawadi Chandrashekar, district Youth Congress president R Rajendra, Cong ST cell district president T B Mallesh, Madhugiri TMC president Radha Narayan, Rajagopal, M S Mallikarjun, Rajesh Doddmani and hundreds of KNR supporters took part in the protest.
