A man was brutally stabbed to death by his nephew over a dispute  revolving around a debt of Rs 6,000 in east Delhi’s Karawal Nagar area, police said on Sunday.

Pravesh Dayal Saxena, 40, was killed on Friday by his nephew Ankit, 22, who was demanding repayment of a Rs 6,000 loan given to him by his family, police said. Ankit has been arrested.

Police said the Saxena was first to start the trouble by refusing the money to Ankit and attacking his nephew’s sister with a knife at their joint home in Panchal Vihar in Karawal Nagar.

Saxena was rushed to GTB Hospital where he died during treatment, police said.Saxena lived in the first floor of the building with his wife Meenakshi and 10-year-old daughter and his elder brother and father of Ankit and their family stayed on the ground floor, police said.

Saxena had borrowed Rs 6,000 from Ankit and his sister Shweta a few days ago but was resisting attempts by Ankit and his sister to recover the money,  police said.

On Friday evening when Shweta again asked Saxena to return the money, he attacked and injured her. This allegedly enraged Ankit who retaliated by stabbing his uncle, police said.

A murder case has been registered, police said.

In a separate incident on Saturday, a scrap dealer was shot at and injured by three bike-borne assailants in Rajender Nagar, police said.

S  S Singh, 37,  a resident of Jangpura,  was hit by a bullet in his leg and taken to RML Hospital  after the incident that took place on the isolated stretch of Shanker Road, police said.

After initial investigation police said personal enmity seemed to be the motive and they have started scanning the CCTV footage of cameras of establishments near the incident spot.

The incident took place when Singh was returning from his office in Mayapuri to home in car and the assailants forced him to stop his vehicle and started an argument, police said.

Singh said the assailants wanted to blackmail him and extort money after accusing him of misbehaving with a woman, police said.

During the argument, the assailants threatened to get a police case registered against him in the “woman harassment” case and demanded money from him for not taking the matter to police, Singh told police.
