JOIN USItron, $2 billion Nasdaq listed technology and services company, has announced its plans to expand software Centre of Excellence (CoE), as part of its strategy to come up with a new platform-centric approach.
In an interaction with Deccan Herald, Tom Ditrich said the Bengaluru CoE aims to be one of the world’s leading development centres for innovative software and firmware solutions that enable utilities and cities to manage energy and water more resourcefully.
“The platform-centric approach is relevant, as there is more enhanced movement of services to cloud model. We have pay per use and selling model outrightly,” he said.
The company started its Bengaluru CoE operation in 2012, and at present has around 250 staff. “We are planning to double the staff strength through fresh and lateral hiring,” he said. Ditrich, who took over as the COO of the company six months ago, said that he has the mandate bring back operational efficiency and focus on a client-centric approach with new technology.
“The centre will focus on software application development to support smart cities and smart grid deployments globally. We believe that the centre can build a sustainable future with the latest innovations, a commitment to quality and a shared passion for responsible resource management,” he said.
The company has a manufacturing centre at Dehradun and sales offices in Pune, Noida, Mumbai and Vadodara.
“Currently we are engaged with several government bodies in managing and modernising water utility infrastructure to more efficiently and effectively manage precious water resources,” he said.
The company’s broad product portfolio includes electricity, gas, water and thermal energy measurement devices and control technology; communications systems; software; as well as managed and consulting services.
