Bhadravathi boy B S Ranjan has scored a centum and the 100% score is in all subjects. A few other students from the state have missed the summit place by just one mark.

The topper from the steel town is a student of Poornaprajna Education Centre and the son of Shankaranarayan, a businessman and Triveni, a homemaker.

Friends visited Ranjan’s house in hordes to wish him on his accomplishment. His parents received numerous phone calls greeting them.

Ranjan said, “I was shocked after knowing that I am the topper. I had anticipated that I may score between 618 and 620. I had not expected that I would score 100 in all subjects. I used to study for six hours a day without any pressure, since the beginning of the academic year. I had not joined any coaching centre. The special classes by teachers two months before the exam helped a lot.” Ranjan aspires to become a doctor.

Sharing her views, Triveni, mother of Ranjan, said “my son has been a topper since class 2. There was no parental pressure.”

B S Shankarnarayan, his father said, “His sister Rachana also scored well in SSLC. We wanted him to emulate her. But he outscored her.”

N S Eeshu of Marimallappa High School and Akshay Rao of Vijaya Vittala School in Mysuru have secured 624 out of 625 to bag the second position in SSLC.

While Eeshu lost one mark in Social Science, Akshay scored just one mark less than maximum in Kannada. Both got 125/125 in Sanskrit.

Eeshu, daughter of N S Shivanna, a senior manager with Karnataka State Financial Corporation and Sharmila, a homemaker, said, she wants to become a doctor. “I did not think I could be one of the two toppers. The moral support of parents, friends and teachers helped me achieve this,” she said.

Akshay wants to become a neurologist. He is the son of civil engineer Radhakrishna Rao and homemaker Asha.

“He used to study most of the time. This paid him dividends,” said Asha.
Supreetha M A, a student of Holy Child Convent in Bengaluru, has scored 624 out of 625.
Her father Arun Kumar said that she was a topper all through, but he never thought she would get 624 marks.

He said Supreetha wants to be an electronics engineer. Calls have been pouring in from morning to wish her. Supreetha said that she used to spend six to seven hours every day for studies. She gave credit to her school and parents for the feat.

Sushruth U K of St Mary’s English Medium High School at Laila in Belthangady too has scored 624/625.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Sushruth said that he is happy that he was able to fulfil the dream of his mother Surekha that he should score more than 620 marks.

“I will join science stream in PU and later study pharmacy,” he said.
“Playing flute, violin and practising Bharathanatyam helped me to refresh my mind,” Sushruth said.

He is also an ardent lover of Yakshagana. His father is Kishore Kumar U V, a superintendent at Bantwal BEO office.

14 girls in top 20

Much like the previous years, girls have scored better than the boys in the SSLC exams.
Fourteen out of the top 20 in the state are girls. There are no boys from Bengaluru in the top-20 list, but four girls from the city are in the list.
