Vittal people enjoy a day out with fruits

Delicacies of rare fruits relished the taste buds of visitors at ‘Hannugalondige Ondu Dina’ organised by Halasu Snehi Koota at Muliya school. The visitors also had an opportunity to know more about the fruits during the exhibition.

A treat of rare delicacies awaited the people at the programme. Fruit salad prepared out of guava, watermelon, chikku, papaya and pineapple, Malaysia chips, dried banana, wild mango ice cream, cashew fruit ice cream were on the menu.

These apart, the afternoon lunch had a lions share of fruits including variety of banana, jack fruit and guava, soothed the taste buds of foodaholics. Also, a glass of buttermilk served at the venue, quenched the thirst in the scorching sun.

The exhibition cum sale stalls featured indigenous fruits such as ‘chakkota’, ‘sihi karande’, ‘anjoora’, ‘pucche pandar’, ‘maindapuli’, ‘sallehannu’, ‘seethaphala’, ‘ganike hannu’, ‘ajjipatla’, ‘nakshatra nerale’, ‘hebbalasu’, ‘kempu seebekai’, ‘jambu nerale’, fruit delicacies such as ‘mango mambala’ , mango chocolate, tender coconut jelly and so on.

A session on Indian and foreign fruits, was held on the occasion. Agriculturist Dr Chandrashekhar Chowta presided. Collector of various varieties of fruits, Anil Balanja, Dr Karunakar Hirehalli, Agriculturist Dr L C Soans of Moodbidri and Dr Senthil Kumar took part.

Dr L C Soans was felicitated on the occasion. Dr Chandrashekhar Chowta inaugurated the programme. Progressive farmer Sediyapu Janardana Bhat and Columnist Na Karnath Peraje were present among others.
