Tipper lorry mows down bike rider, pillion

Two people died after a tipper lorry ran over them near Sumanahalli on Sunday morning. The police gave the names of the victims as Seetharam, 36, a painter, and Manju, 16, a pre-university student, both residents of Nandini Layout.

The accident occurred when they were returning home after visiting a temple on Magadi Road at around 10.30 am. The police said Seetharam, who was riding the bike without wearing a helmet, tried to overtake the lorry, but he lost his control and fell down.

A speeding lorry crushed him and the pillion rider to death. The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. The jurisdictional Magadi Road traffic police shifted the bodies for postmortem and registered a case.

Man dies in accident

A 29-year-old man died on the spot after he rammed his Duster car into a lorry parked on the roadside near Rani Circle in Devanahalli on Saturday night. The police identified the victim as Aditya, a resident of Anand Nagar in Hebbal.

He was returning to the city from Chikkaballapur when the accident occurred around 11 pm on NH-7 near Devanahalli. The police seized the lorry and are on the lookout for the driver.
