Batsmen spur NUCC to victory

A collective batting effort from NUCC saw them run away with a comfortable 40-run victory over Bharath CC in the U-17 Tiger Cup cricket tournament here on Friday.

Batting first, NUCC rode on knocks from Sai Karthik (54) and Aman Khan (37) to set up a total of 208 for nine in 30 overs. Nitin (26) and Praful Pandey (26) also made useful contributions. Hitesh picked two wicket for Bharath CC.

In response, Bharath CC could only manage 168 for eight in their 30 overs. Aditya Mani with figures 2/24 did the most damage for the winners.

Meanwhile, Jawans CC defeated BUCC (B) by 14 runs to enter the semifinals in the under-12 category.

Riding on Harshil’s half-century  (60) and Shivam’s 44 runs, Jawans made 203 for six in 30 overs and then restricted BUCC (B) for 189 for seven in 30 overs to win the tie.

Jawans will meet BUCC (A), while Coles CC will play City Cultural Association in the other last-four clash.

U-12: Jawans CC: 203/6 in 30 overs (Shivam 44, Harshil 60; Dhruv 2-32) bt BUCC (B): 189/7 in 30 overs (Dhruv 51 n.o., Anish 2-31).
