Domestic help found dead, police suspect husband

A 42-year-old domestic help was found murdered under mysterious circumstances at her house in Nataraj Layout under Hulimavu police limits on Tuesday.

The police said that the victim Sumathi was married to Ravi, a painter, for over 25 years. They are natives of Andhra Pradesh and had come down to the city around two months ago.

The couple have two sons and a daughter, who are residing in their native place. On Tuesday morning, Sumathi's daughter called her on the mobile phone but there was no response.

She then called the neighbours and asked them to inform her mother to call her back. The neighbours found the door of Sumathi's house open and found her lying in the floor.

They tried waking her up but she did not respond and found strangulation marks on her neck. Sumathi’s husband Ravi was also not present at the house. They alerted the police, who found that she was murdered, added the police.

Preliminary probe

The preliminary investigations revealed that the couple used to constantly fight over certain domestic issues. On Monday night, Ravi might have strangulated her to death following a fight and fled the spot.

Ravi might have fled to his native. There are a few clues about Ravi, who would be arrested at the earliest, mentioned the police. A case has been registered in Hulimavu police station in this connection.
