JOIN US A 21-year-old engineering student drowned in Bagalur lake on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Hemanth, a native of Hassan. He was pursuing engineering in a private college at Yelahanka and was staying with his uncle at Hosakote.
Thursday being a holiday, Hemanth and his friends went to Bagalur lake for a swim in the afternoon.
All of them dived into the lake. Since Hemanth did not to swim, he started drowning. His friends alerted the local residents, who informed the police and the Fire personnel. The body was retrieved around 3 pm and was sent for post-mortem.
Following sand mining in the lakebed by a few brick kilns, the lake was deepened by 20 feet, informed the residents to the police.
A case has been registered at the Bagalur police station.
