Depressed over parental discord, girl commits suicide

A 13-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself in her house at Kuvempunagar in Ramamurthynagar on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Kavya, the daughter of a retired ITI employee Gunashekhar and his wife Rajeshwari. She was studying in Class 7 at a local school, said the police.

Parents separated

Gunashekhar and Rajeshwari were staying separately due to marital discord.
Kavya and her brother Shashidhar were staying with their father. Gunashekhar had gone out for some work when the incident occurred, said the police. Kavya went into the bathroom around 10.45 am, but did not return. Shashidhar grew suspicious and knocked the door, but there was no response from within.

He called up his father and informed him about the stituation. Gunashekhar rushed back, broke open the door and spotted Kavya hanging, said the police.

Kavya was depressed due to her parents’ separation. She had not written any suicide note, said the police.
