The ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu will kickstart a whirlwind campaign from Saturday for the May 16 polls with CM J Jayalalithaa addressing a massive public rally here.

Even as her major rivals DMK, DMDK-PWF and BJP are still scouting for candidates, Jayalalithaa is setting out on a grueling campaigning schedule covering several districts, including the neighbouring Puducherry. During her campaigning, Jayalalithaa will seek support from the electorate for an impressive haul. Banners, huge cutouts, graffiti have already been erected by party men across the state, while the city is decorated with festoons, party flags and huge stage especially at the island grounds where Jayalalithaa is addressing a public meeting.

AIADMK sources told Deccan Herald on Thursday that Jayalalithaa is expected to introduce all her party candidates at the single giant stage after kick starting the poll campaign. A senior AIADMK leader from the party headquarters said that hectic preparations are on at the island grounds to set up a huge stage with AIADMK cadres working day and night to complete the work before Saturday since security persons would take over the place before the meeting.

After finishing her campaign in Chennai, the AIADMK chief will proceed towards Cuddalore, Dharmapuri and other northern districts of the state.
