A 26-year-old man was beaten to death by two persons near Kuri Doddi near Bamboo Bazaar in Silver Jubilee Park police limits on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Saleem, a resident of Siddapur. The accused Prabhu, 23, a resident of Kuri Doddi and Abdul Kareem, resident of Siddapur, were arrested on Friday morning. The accused were working in a meat stall in Kuri Doddi.

On Friday night, Saleem left home saying he would be back after collecting money from his friend. Around 11.45 pm, he went to Kuri Doddi and met Prabhu and Kareem. He asked Prabhu to return the money he had lent him a few months ago. They got into a heated argument and Prabhu and Kareem thrashed Saleem, who collapsed, police said.

They left the spot assuming he would regain consciousness. Around 4 am, locals noticed Saleem lying on the ground. When they checked on him, he was dead.

They alerted the police, who also found him dead, but there were no external injuries.

Police confirmed his identity with the help of locals and cross-checked with his family members also. Police then learnt that he was last seen with Prabhu and Kareem. Cops traced the duo and arrested them.

“Saleem was a habitual offender and has several cases of offences against him in Kalasipalyam police station. He had also tried to escape from the Kalasipalyam police by attacking them, but had sustained bullet injuries after he was shot in the leg,” said a senior police officer. A case has been registered in SJ Park police station.
