Travelling GIM delegates may hamper your weekend getaway

If you are planning to head to historic places or forests for the weekend, re-check your bookings as delegates participating at the Global Investors Meet will be travelling too.

While the industries and tourism departments have chalked out itineraries to take delegates sight-seeing in Bengaluru and Mysuru, many GIM participants have shown interest to travel to Kabini back waters, Hampi, Belur-Halebid and Shravanabelagola.

The Karnataka State Tourism Department (KSTDC) has reserved five AC Volvo buses to take delegates to the Bannerghatta Biological Park safari and butterfly park, International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple, Chitrakala Parishat, Lalbagh and Bull Temple. Those travelling to Mysuru will see the Amba Vilas Palace, Chamundi Hill, museum and Brindavan Gardens.

Many have already made bookings to travel and the tourism department is arranging the same. In some cases the travel plan will also depend on the quantum of the investment with the government departments and private companies. Heritage sites of northern and northwestern Karnataka have gained a lot of importance. This is also because most investments are concentrated in these regions. “They are interested in Kabini as we promoted it as a place to sight wild animals this month and the season has been very good,” said a senior KSTDC official.

The delegates will be travelling on February 5 and 6. The delegates will also be travelling to four industrial areas – Whitefield, Electronics City, Narsapura Industrial Area in Kolar and the industrial area on Tumakuru Road – to witness developmental activities. All the delegates who have registered for GIM are travelling, said Omkar Murthy, Developmental officer, KIADB.

The itinerary is being chalked out in such a way that the delegates can take back glamorous memories of the City and tourist places. This could pose some temporary inconvenience to other tourists, as preference will be given to the delegates. But their bookings will not be affected, the KSTDC official clarified.
