Constable run over by train

A 45-year-old head constable who was crossing a railway track was run over by a train at Yeshwantpur railway station on Sunday morning.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Huchaiah, attached to the Rajajinagar traffic police station. He was living at the police quarters on Magadi Road with his wife and two children.

The accident took place around 9 am while he was going to work. He was tossed up in the air, fell on the tracks and was run over by a speeding train. People who noticed his body, informed railway officials, who alerted the police. They are not sure why Huchaiah had gone to the railway station.

Police said they are yet to ascertain if Huchaiah committed suicide. The body was sent for post-mortem and a case has been registered at the Yeshwantpur railway police station. Investigations are on, the police said.
