ZP, TP polls: Cong to collect building fund from aspirants

Interested to contest the forthcoming Taluk Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat elections from Congress party in Mandya?

It is learnt that the aspirants along with submitting application should also, mandatorily donate a building fund of Rs 10,000 for ZP and Rs 5,000 for TP constituencies.

The Congress is collecting KPCC building fund from the contestants, which is non-refundable. However, there is a 50 per cent concession for women and 75 per cent for SC/ST aspirants. They will have to pay Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,500 respectively.

Those willing to contest on the party ticket should fill in their details in the prescribed application form available at the Congress party office, providing the name of the constituencies, reservation details, name, age, sex, address, cellphone numbers and others.

The forms have been sent by the KPCC and the last date to submit the applications is January 8. District unit president M S Atmananda said, the applications would be sent to the KPCC president for consideration.

The applicant should also explain whether he/she is the voter of the constituency, and attach copies of voter identity card, caste certificate in case of reservation, details if the applicant faces any criminal charges, Congress membership number, ward number, booth number and others.

Opinion has been sought, if the applicant is not given the opportunity to contest from the Congress party, whether he will withdraw and support the official candidate. In case, the applicant is a sitting or former member, what were the achievements during his tenure should also be mentioned. The aspirant should have compulsorily made at least 10 primary memberships and the details should be added.
