Bus stop discipline campaign on Bus Day

Last Updated 05 October 2015, 20:33 IST
The Bangalore Metropolitan Corporation (BMTC) observed its 69th Bus Day on Monday with a special campaign to encourage ‘Bus stop discipline’.

As a part of the campaign, which began at 8 am and continued till 12 pm at 11 pre-selected bus stops and TTMCs across the City, five personnel from BMTC's checking staff were deployed at each of the 11 bus stops to ensure bus crew follow lane discipline and obeys traffic rules.

However, at some bus stops, chaos prevailed as buses were unable to halt exactly at the designated bus stoppages because other vehicles were parked near the bus stops. BMTC officials said that the aim was to create awareness among bus crew to follow road discipline.

Meanwhile, along with the usual fleet of buses plying in the City, the BMTC also extended operation of as many as 1,500 general shift schedules, beyond normal scheduled timings up to 10 pm.
