JOIN USSudden downpour, coupled with heavy winds greeted Bangaloreans on Monday afternoon. According to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), southwest monsoon has revived and has become active across south interior Karnataka.
It is weak over north interior and coastal Karnataka. It is because of this the City and most parts of south interior Karnataka are experiencing thundershowers. The IMD has forecast rain and strong winds for the next 48 hours.
The City recorded 34.8 mm rainfall as at 8.30 on Monday morning. HAL airport and Kempegowda International Airport IMD centres recorded 25.4 mm and 64.6 mm rainfall respectively.
Trees fall
Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) received about 11 tree fall complaints due to Sunday’s downpour at places such as Kengeri, HRBR Layout, Bytarayanapura, Millers Road, Gangamma Circle and Vidyaranyapura. On Monday morning, the Palike reported complaints of tree branches being uprooted at Wilson Garden 10th cross, near Hombegowda school; Malleswaram and Giringar.
