Keshavan, Zinith clinch gold in SZ Junior athletic meet

Karnataka’s Keshavan R and Zinith Kaverappa won gold in hammer throw and 5000 metres walk respectively on the opening day of the 27th Junior South Zone National athletics championship here at the JNTUK ground on Thursday.

In the U-18 boys’ hammer throw, Keshavan with a heave of 56.29 metres finished first.

Zinith claimed the gold in the 5000M walk in the boys’ U-16 category, ahead of Kerala’s Nikhil Sudhilal (27:33.5) and Y Durga Prasad (27:35.8) of Telangana.

Meanwhile, Karnataka’s Sudarshan Babu won the silver in the U-20 hammer throw while Akshatha A (19:52.6) finished second in the U-20 girls’ 5000 metres race.
Chaitra RA  bagged a silver in the U-20 girls’ 400M hurdles in 1:10.0 as did Arpitha HS in the U-18 girls’ 5000M walk.
