Man killed over loan default

Failure to repay an outstanding amount of Rs 15,000 were the grounds for a man to allegedly strangle and then stab his friend’s face beyond recognition in outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri area last month.

Ajay Kumar Tiwari, 40, was strangled and then stabbed all over his face to avoid identity. The accused and his colleague have been arrested, police said on Saturday.

Vishal, 20, and Veer Singh, 21, were held over probe after Ajay was found dead in a park at Sultanpuri B-Block. Vishal worked as a mechanic with Rao Travels in Gurgaon, while Veer worked as a helper with the firm.

Police initially failed to identify the body due to which it was preserved at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital.

“On September 7, Nangloi-resident Suresh Chand Tiwari met investigating officer Sharat Kohli and identified the body as that of his son Ajay,” said Ghanshyam Bansal, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer).

During investigation, the call data record of Ajay’s mobile phone was procured. It was found that Gurgaon-resident Ashok Kumar was using the phone.

On being questioned, Ashok told police that the phone was given to him by Vishal, a resident of Rohini, on August 27. The phone was seized, and Vishal was apprehended on September 14.

During interrogation, Vishal confessed to have killed Ajay. “Ajay had borrowed Rs 15,000 from Vishal, but was not returning it. Vishal along with his colleague Veer then killed Ajay,” Bansal added.

First they strangled Ajay with a wire and later stabbed him on his face and neck. After killing him, Vishal and Veer used a blade to put cut marks on his face so that it could not be identified.

On September 16, a police team went to Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun district and apprehended Veer. After probing Vishal, police also recovered Ajay’s wrist watch, shoes, wallet and driving license.
