7-year-old drowns in construction pit

A seven-year-old boy, who had gone missing since Sunday evening, was found dead in a construction pit near Manyata Tech Park in Hebbal on Tuesday morning.

Narasimha Murthy, the son of Muniraju, a waterman from Rachenahalli, was playing with his friends near Manyata Tech Park on Sunday evening. The boys went home after sometime but Murthy didn’t. His worried parents began searching for him and lodged a missing complaint with the police when they couldn’t find him.

On Tuesday morning, the boy was traced to the construction pit that was filled to the brim following heavy rains in the past few days. The police suspect the boy went near the pit, fell down and drowned.

The body was taken to the Ambedkar Hospital for post-mortem.
The boy was studying in class I at a school in Thanisandra.
